The 3 Steps to Sustainable Lifestyle Changes©

DexcomBy living a healthy and active life, I keep my blood glucose on average around 105 mg/dL, and generally fluctuate between 80 and 130 mg/dL, while maintaining an A1c below 5.5. No low-carb diets or other restrictions. I eat what I want, including cookies and Snickers; and I do what I like to do, which is being outdoors in nature.

The best way to manage your diabetes is by timing things right; not by denying yourself any of the good stuff in life. It’s all about making the right choices and having the right portions at the right times. A healthy lifestyle is sustainable if you make and keep it enjoyable.

Diabetes Management tableHaving diabetes myself, I know exactly what kind of struggles you are facing every day, and how hard it is to follow your doctor’s instructions to eat healthy and exercise more.

What most health care professionals do not have is the time to sit down with you and together design a healthy and active lifestyle that is tailored to your specific goals and individual desires. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is easier said than done, so simply sending you home with a diet and exercise plan is not going to work; after all, there is no one-size-fits-all plan. How many people do you know who tried to follow a diet and workout schedule to lose weight, but ended up gaining even more, because it’s just not realistic to maintain? Maybe you recognize yourself in this too?

“You are not alone in this.”
